Maple Leafs vs Bruins Picks and Prediction – 4/21/2024

The Toronto Maple Leafs kick off the 2024 postseason Saturday night in Boston with a game against the Boston Bruins. Toronto punched their ticket into the playoffs with 46 wins overall but finished the regular season on a four-game skid following a two goal loss against Tampa Bay. Offensively Toronto is one of the best teams in hockey averaging 3.63 goals on 32.6 shots. Defensively the Maple Leafs have done the work allowing 3.18 goals per game overall on less than 30 shots but gave up five point five goals per game during their four-game skid. Martin Jones struggled immensely in the net for Toronto in their last outing giving up six goals on 32 shots to boast a .813 save percentage in just over 57 minutes on the ice. Toronto got a balanced scoring attack as four different players found the net for one goal each. Connor Dewar and David Kampf came up big for Toronto with two assists apiece.

The Boston Bruins won 47 games this year and finished second in the Atlantic division. The Boston offense led the way for the team scoring 3.21 goals per game on 29.2 shots. Defensively Boston held their own as one of the better teams in the league allowing just 2.7 goals despite giving up 30.5 shots per game.

Lars Ullmark was atrocious last game out for Boston giving up two goals on 19 shots to boast a .895 save percentage before Ottawa found the empty net as well. Pavel Zacha provided the only boost to the Boston offense scoring one goal on six shots in nearly 17.5 minutes of game time. David Pastrnak chipped in as well with one assist in the game.
