Blues vs Jets Prediction

The Winnipeg Jets look to extend the series lead when they host the St. Louis Blues in Game 2 of the Western Conference first round at Canada Life Centre. The Jets took Game 1 with a 5-3 win, while the Blues are trying to bounce back after dropping their fourth loss in five games. Winnipeg enters this matchup with a 56-22-4 record, while St. Louis sits at 44-30-8. Hit the ice running with our NHL picks.

St. Louis dropped Game 1 despite two goals from Jordan Kyrou, and the Blues couldn’t contain Winnipeg’s pressure in the third period. They’ve now lost four of the last five, and the defensive lapses continue to be a concern. The Blues managed a dominant 6-1 win over Utah before the playoffs but have struggled to maintain momentum.

Defensively, the Blues are allowing 2.82 goals per game, and the penalty kill is shaky at just 74.3%. Goaltender Jordan Binnington has a 2.69 goals-against average and a .900 save percentage, while Joel Hofer has been slightly better with a .904 save percentage. Robert Thomas is the top scorer with 81 points and 60 assists, and Jordan Kyrou leads the team in goals with 36. St. Louis is also without Dylan Holloway and Torey Krug, which hurts depth on both ends of the ice.

Winnipeg came out strong in Game 1 and once again leaned on Kyle Connor, who posted a monster season with 41 goals and 97 points. The Jets have won five straight and are rolling behind the elite goaltending of Connor Hellebuyck, who had 47 wins, a 2.01 GAA, and a .925 save percentage. The Jets also got depth scoring in Game 1, with four different players finding the back of the net.

Defensively, Winnipeg is giving up just 2.32 goals per game and killing 79.4% of penalties. They also own the more dangerous power play, converting at 28.9% compared to the Blues’ 22.1%. Despite being without key forwards Gabriel Vilardi and Nikolaj Ehlers, the Jets haven’t missed a beat.

Blues vs Jets Pick Analysis

The Jets are flat-out better on both ends. They’re deeper offensively, far stronger in net, and they’ve only lost seven times at home all year. With a better power play, stronger penalty kill, and the hottest goalie in the NHL all season, Winnipeg is just too much for a banged-up Blues team to handle. Final Score Prediction: Winnipeg Jets win 4-2.
