Blues vs Stars Picks and Prediction – 10/13/2023

The Saint Louis Blues take a road trip Thursday night to Dallas TX for game one of the regular season against the Dallas Stars. Saint Louis finished the preseason 4-2-2 on a two game win streak after a two goal win over the Chicago Blackhawks. Much of the Saint Louis success in the preseason came from their offense averaging 3.25 goals per game. Defensively St. Louis was solid as well allowing just 2.875 goals in the preseason. Saint Louis used a two-goalie set in the final game of the preseason combining to get the win. Joel Hofer saved both shots seen, while Jordan Binnington had a .768 save percentage after allowing just three goals on 14 shots in 40 minutes of action. Robert Thomas carried the load for the Saint Louis offense with two goals on four shots in nearly 16 minutes on the ice. Pavel Buchenvich and Jordan Kyrou each chipped in two assists, while three other Saint Louis players added one goal each.

The Dallas Stars limp into the regular season after a mediocre preseason showing. Dallas finished the preseason 4-2-1 overall losing three of the last four following an undefeated start through three games. Offensively Dallas averaged three goals per game and allowed two point two goals in the preseason.

The Stars had a ton of issues in the final game of the preseason falling by four goals for the Minnesota Wild. Dallas was outmatched severely on the defensive side giving up 23 total shots and lost 27 faceoffs. Scott Wedgewood got the start in the goal for Dallas boasting a .727 save percentage after giving up three goals on eleven shots in the game. Jake Oettinger game had the better game but still gave up one goal on 12 shots.
