Sharks vs Flames Prediction

San Jose continues its rough season as the Sharks roll into Calgary with a 20-48-11 record and riding a five-game losing streak. The latest was a 4-2 defeat against Edmonton, following close losses to Minnesota in overtime and Calgary earlier in the week. With a dismal road record of 8-22-9, the Sharks are just trying to finish the season without more damage. Hit the ice running with our NHL picks.

The Sharks rank near the bottom in both goals scored (2.59) and goals allowed (3.80) per game. The special teams have been just as problematic, with a 73.3% penalty kill rate and 18.7% on the power play. Macklin Celebrini leads the offense with 62 points, while Tyler Toffoli is the top goal scorer with 29. Goalie Alexandar Georgiev owns a brutal 3.79 GAA and a weak .872 save percentage. Defensively, the Sharks are missing three blueliners, including Mario Ferraro and Shakir Mukhamadullin, and captain Logan Couture remains on IR, hurting both leadership and depth.

Calgary comes in at 38-27-14 and solid at home with a 21-12-6 record. The Flames beat Minnesota 4-2 in the last game, rebounding after a tough overtime loss in Anaheim. They’ve won three of the last five, including a 3-2 win over the Sharks on April 7.

Defensively, Calgary is much sharper, allowing just 2.90 goals per game and holding opponents to 28.7 shots on average. Dustin Wolf continues to get it done between the pipes with a 2.63 GAA and .909 save percentage. Nazem Kadri leads the team in points and goals with 32 tallies and 62 points total, while MacKenzie Weegar runs the blue line with 38 assists and a solid +17 rating. Calgary’s special teams edge San Jose’s, especially the penalty kill at 75.8%. Connor Zary is ruled out for this game.

Sharks vs Flames Pick Analysis

The Flames have the better goaltending, more scoring depth, and a defense that can contain what’s left of San Jose’s offense. Kadri is on a tear, Wolf is holding it down in net, and Calgary already edged out the Sharks earlier this week. San Jose’s injuries, lack of defense, and poor road form make this an easy pick. Final Score Prediction: Calgary Flames wins 4-2.
