Frederik Andersen struggled a bit in Game 2 giving up three goals on 12 shots to boast a .750 save percentage but shut New York out in the third period to seal the victory. Seth Jarvis led the way for the Carolina offense with one goal and two assists in just over 18 minutes on the ice. Sebastian Aho and Jake Guentzel chipped in heavily as well with one goal and one assist each.

The New York Islanders limp back home Thursday down by two games after blowing a three goal lead in game two. Offensively New York has been mediocre this season averaging just under three goals per game on 30.1 shots but have scored four total goals through two outings. The New York defense has been the team's biggest issue this season giving up 3.15 goals per game and allowed five in game two.

Semyon Varlamov was horrendous in the net for New York giving up four goals on 38 shots to post a .895 save percentage before Carolina found the empty net as well. Kyle Palmieri, Anders Lee, and Bo Horvat led the way for the New York scoring with one goal each.
