Wizards vs Hawks Picks and Prediction – 10/28/2024

State Farm Arena will play host to a Monday night NBA clash between the Washington Wizards and the Atlanta Hawks. For other NBA action see our NBA Predictions. The Wizards were one of the worst defensive teams in the NBA last season and surrendered 123 points per contest. On Saturday, Washington was torched for 76 points during the second half and allowed Cleveland to shoot 53 percent from the field during a 135-116 home loss. 

Second-year pro Bilal Coulibaly led seven Washington players in double figures with 23 points (9-16 FG) and six rebounds. Jordan Poole and Kyle Kuzma scored 14 points each on a combined 7-for-25 shooting effort. The Wizards shot just 39 percent from the field and turned the ball over 15 times.

The Atlanta Hawks have been one of the worst defensive teams in the league the past few seasons and have shown signs of improving in that area. This will be the second of a back-to-back for Atlanta, who was outscored by 21 points during the fourth quarter of last night’s 128-104 road loss against Oklahoma City. The Hawks (2-1) missed 21 of 31 long distance attempts and shot just 40 percent overall.

All-Star G Trae Young tallied a team-high 24 points on 7-for-14 shooting and dished out eight assists. Garrison Mathews and Onyeka Okongwu scored 14 points apiece off the Atlanta bench. Number one overall draft pick Zacccharie Risacher added 13 points and six rebounds for the Hawks. 

Atlanta F De’Andre Hunter was ruled out of last night’s game with a knee issue and his status for this contest is uncertain. The Hawks play at the fifth fastest tempo in the league and the Wizards gave up 135 points last time out. Take the over. Final Score Prediction, Atlanta Hawks win 123-116.
