76ers vs Celtics Picks and Prediction – 3/7/2025

The 76ers (21-40) have shut down C Joel Embiid (knee) for the remainder of the season and are 2.5 games out of tenth place in the Eastern Conference standings. On Tuesday, Philadelphia was outscored by 11 points during the fourth quarter of a 126-112 road loss against Minnesota. 

Philadelphia G Quentin Grimes continued his recent torrid stretch with a game-high 30 points on 12-for-18 shooting. Kelly Oubre Jr. scored 24 points on 11-for-19 from the field. Guerschon Yabusele added 18 points (7-14 FG) and seven rebounds for the 76ers, who fell to 10-19 on the road. 

The Boston Celtics have won 20 of their first 31 home games and hold a 3.5 game lead over New York for second place in the Eastern Conference standings. The Celtics (44-18) rank third in the league in offensive efficiency and are scoring a shade below 117 points per contest. Last night, Boston connected on 23-for-51 from the three-point line during a 128-118 home victory versus Portland. 

Boston guards Payton Pritchard and Derrick White erupted for a combined 84 points on a 19-for-33 long range shooting display. All-Star G Jaylen Brown contributed 18 points, eight rebounds, and eight assists. Veteran C Al Horford added 12 points and nine rebounds for the Celtics, who outrebounded the Trail Blazers by a 52-39 margin. 

Boston played without starters Jayson Tatum (shoulder), Jrue Holiday (finger), and Kristaps Porzingis (illness) during last night’s win. These two squads rank in the bottom five of the league in tempo, so we could be in store for a low scoring affair. The Celtics are coming off an easy victory and will struggle to cover this number.
