Magic vs Celtics Picks and Prediction – 4/23/2025

In the first game of a Wednesday night NBA on TNT doubleheader, the Orlando Magic will take on the Boston Celtics from TD Garden. For other NBA action see our NBA Predictions. The seventh-seeded Magic defeated the Celtics twice during the regular season and relied heavily on a defense that allowed 105.5 points per game. In the series opener, Orlando committed 15 turnovers and shot 42 percent from the field during a 103-86 road loss.

Former number one overall draft pick Paolo Banchero led all scorers with 36 points on 14-for-27 shooting and grabbed 11 rebounds. Orlando F Franz Wagner added 23 points (10-24 FG) and five assists. The rest of the Magic starting lineup combined for ten points.  

The Boston Celtics won 28 of 41 home games during the regular season and are one of the betting favorites to repeat as NBA Champions. The second-seeded Celtics rank third in the league in offensive efficiency and are scoring 116.3 points per game. During Sunday’s home victory, Boston outscored Orlando 55-37 in the second half. 

Derrick White nailed 7-of-12 from long distance and led four Boston players in double figures with 30 points. Payton Pritchard scored 19 points on 6-for-8 shooting in 25 minutes off the bench. All-Star F Jayson Tatum added 17 points (8-22 FG) and 14 rebounds for the Celtics. 

Orlando G Jalen Suggs underwent successful knee surgery and will not play in the postseason. For the Magic to have any chance of staying competitive in this series, they would have to keep the Celtics under 100 points.
