Knicks vs Pistons Picks and Prediction – 5/1/2025

In the first game of a Thursday night NBA on TNT playoff doubleheader, the New York Knicks will square off against the Detroit Pistons from Little Caesars Arena. The third-seeded Knicks (3-2) have won both games on the road in this best-of-seven series and are looking to make their third straight trip to the Eastern Conference Semifinals. In Game Five, New York missed 11 of 27 free-throw attempts during a 106-103 home loss.  

OG Anunoby led six New York players in double figures with 19 points (8-13 FG) and eight rebounds. All-Star F/C Karl-Anthony Towns and Mikal Bridges added 17 points each on a combined 12-for-30 shooting effort. All-Star G Jalen Brunson missed 12 of 16 field goal attempts and finished with 16 points for the Knicks. 

The Detroit Pistons finished three games above .500 at home during the regular season and are in search of their first home playoff victory since 2008. The sixth-seeded Pistons (2-3) lead the postseason in rebounding rate, but must do a better job taking care of the basketball. During Tuesday’s road victory, Detroit missed 21 of 29 three-point attempts and shot 42 percent overall. 

All-Star G Cade Cunningham tallied a game-high 24 points (11-12 FT), eight rebounds, and eight assists. Detroit F Ausar Thompson had his best game of the series with 22 points (8-10 FG) and seven boards. Veteran F Tobias Harris added 17 points, eight rebounds, and four blocks for the Pistons. 

Detroit C Isaiah Stewart has missed the last four games with knee inflammation and his status for this contest is uncertain. New York led by seven and ten points at halftime in Games Three and Four, so taking them in the first half is worth a look. Take the Knicks to win on the road and advance to face Boston in the second round. Final Score Prediction, New York Knicks win 108-103.
