Lakers vs Mavericks Picks and Prediction – 4/9/2025

In the first game of a Wednesday night NBA on ESPN doubleheader, the Los Angeles Lakers will square off against the Dallas Mavericks from the American Airlines Center. Last night, Los Angeles had no answer for Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (42 points) during a 136-120 road loss against Oklahoma City. 

All-Star F LeBron James led four Los Angeles players in double figures with 28 points (8-19 FG) and seven rebounds. Austin Reaves scored 23 points on 8-for-15 shooting and dished out five assists. All-Star G Luka Doncic added 23 points and five assists for the Lakers. 

The Dallas Mavericks are four games above .500 at home and hold a 2.5 game lead over Phoenix for tenth place in the Western Conference standings. The Mavericks (38-41) rank in the bottom third of the league in defensive efficiency and are giving up 115.4 points per contest. On Saturday, Dallas was outscored by 22 points during the second half of a 135-104 road loss against the LA Clippers. 

All-Star F Anthony Davis tallied a team-high 27 points on 8-for-19 shooting and grabbed nine rebounds. Kai Jones added 18 points and seven rebounds in just 21 minutes off the Dallas bench. Klay Thompson scored 14 points for the Mavericks, who allowed the Clippers to shoot a sizzling 56 percent from the field.

Los Angeles F Rui Hachimura (knee) did not suit up for last night and his status for this game is uncertain. The Mavericks need a win to move closer to clinching a spot in the Play-In Tournament and will be highly motivated to show well against Luka Doncic. Take Dallas to pull off the upset at home.
