Lakers vs Mavericks Picks and Prediction – 1/8/2025

In the first game of a Tuesday night NBA on TNT doubleheader, the Los Angeles Lakers will square off against the Dallas Mavericks from the American Airlines Center. For other NBA action see our NBA Predictions. The Lakers (20-15) have won seven of their previous ten games and trail Denver by a half-game for fourth place in the Western Conference standings. On Sunday, Los Angeles almost rallied from a 22-point deficit before falling at Houston by a 119-115 final score. 

All-Star F Anthony Davis led six Los Angeles players in double figures with 30 points (10-18 FG) and 13 rebounds. LeBron James scored 21 points to go along with 13 rebounds and nine assists. Austin Reaves added 21 points and ten assists for the Lakers, who were outrebounded by a 49-39 margin.

The Dallas Mavericks are looking to snap a five-game losing streak and have fallen into seventh place in the Western Conference standings. The Mavericks (20-16) rank fifth in the league in offensive efficiency and are averaging 116.7 points per game. Last night, Dallas was outscored by 14 points during the second half of a 119-104 road loss against Memphis. 

Dallas F P.J. Washington tallied a team-high 17 points (7-22 FG) to go along with ten rebounds and five assists. Naji Marshall added 16 points on 5-for-15 shooting and pulled down six boards. Klay Thompson missed 11 of 16 field goal attempts and finished with 15 points for the Mavericks.  

Dallas is playing without injured guards Kyrie Irving (back) and Luka Doncic (calf). The Lakers play at the fifth slowest pace in the league and will look to control the tempo on the road.
