Mavericks vs Hornets Picks and Prediction – 1/20/2025

The Mavericks (23-19) have dropped seven of their last ten games and trail Los Angeles by a half-game for sixth place in the Eastern Conference standings. On Friday, Dallas outscored Oklahoma City by 24 points in the second quarter and held on for a 106-98 home victory. 

Dallas G Kyrie Irving tallied a game-high 25 points (9-19 FG), five rebounds, and five assists. P.J. Washington and Spencer Dinwiddie scored 14 points apiece on a combined 11-for-21 shooting effort. Naji Marshall added 14 points and ten rebounds off the bench for the Mavericks. 

The Charlotte Hornets are seven games below .500 at home and own the third worst overall record in the Eastern Conference. The Hornets (10-28) rank near the bottom of the league in offensive efficiency and are scoring a measly 107 points per contest. On Friday, Charlotte shot 50 percent from the field and made the plays down the stretch to escape Chicago with a 125-123 road victory. 

Charlotte G LaMelo Ball led five Charlotte players in double figures with 26 points (11-13 FG) and nine assists. Miles Bridges chipped in 21 points (8-15 FG) and four rebounds. Mark Williams added 19 points and 19 rebounds for the Hornets, who connected on 13-for-34 from the three-point line. 

Dallas G Luka Donic is recovering from a left calf strain and will be re-evaluated later this month. The Mavericks do not warrant being a favorite of this many points without Luka in the lineup.
