On Wednesday, New York SP David Peterson (5-2) went the distance and fanned six batters to earn the win. Brandon Nimmo homered twice and Juan Soto added a two-run shot for the Mets (44-24), who improved to a major league best 26-7 at home. 

Thirty-two year old righty Kodai Senga (6-3 1.59 ERA) is making a strong case to be selected for his first All-Star Game. The Mets have won Senga’s last three starts and he has allowed four runs over his last 17 plus innings.
