On Wednesday, New York SP David Peterson (5-2) went the distance and fanned six batters to earn the win. Brandon Nimmo homered twice and Juan Soto added a two-run shot for the Mets (44-24), who improved to a major league best 26-7 at home. 

Thirty-two year old righty Kodai Senga (6-3 1.59 ERA) is making a strong case to be selected for his first All-Star Game. The Mets have won Senga’s last three starts and he has allowed four runs over his last 17 plus innings. 

New York 3B Mark Vientos (hamstring) has resumed jogging and hopes to return to the lineup later this month. Through 67 games, Washington ranks 18th in OPS and 17th in runs scored.
