The New York Mets have won 18 of their first 28 games and are just a half-game behind San Diego for the final NL Wild Card spot. During Wednesday’s home victory, New York IF Jose Iglesias delivered a go-ahead two-run single as part of a four-run sixth inning. OF Brandon Nimmo added a solo shot for the Mets (46-45), who improved to 23-25 at home. 

New York manager Carlos Mendoza will turn to talented left-hander David Peterson (3-0 3.58 ERA) on Thursday. The Mets have won Peterson’s last five starts and he has allowed 11 runs across his last 26 frames.
