The Tigers will counter with twenty-nine year old righty Jack Flaherty (5-9 4.84 ERA) on Tuesday. Detroit has dropped Flaherty’s previous four starts and he has surrendered 21 runs over his last 18 innings of work. 

Detroit OF Kerry Carpenter (hamstring) is currently on the 10-day injured list and will miss this series. Through 91 games, Tampa Bay ranks 10th in OPS and 7th in runs scored.
