Cardinals vs Nationals Picks and Prediction – 7/8/2024

In Monday afternoon MLB action, the St. Louis Cardinals and the Washington Nationals will wrap up their series from the nation’s capital. Be ready for the baseball season with all of our MLB predictions. The Cardinals (47-42) have won six of their last ten games and trail NL Central Division leading Milwaukee by five games. On Sunday, DH Willson Contreras homered and drove in three runs to lead St. Louis to an 8-3 road triumph. 

Thirty-five year old righty Miles Mikolas (6-7 5.19 ERA) will take the mound for the Cardinals in this matchup. In his last start, Mikolas (6 IP) allowed two runs and fanned five batters during a 5-4 road victory against Pittsburgh.

The Washington Nationals are three games below .500 at home and are five games back in the race for the final NL Wild Card spot. During yesterday’s home loss, Washington batters went 2-for-9 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base. DH Jesse Winker doubled twice and scored a run for the Nationals, who fell to 42-48 on the year.  

Rookie left-hander Mitchell Parker (5-4 3.61 ERA) will make his 16th career major league start for the Nationals. Last time out, Parker (6 IP) gave up five hits and five runs during a 7-5 home victory versus New York.
