The Wednesday MLB schedule will get underway with a matinee between the St. Louis Cardinals and the Detroit Tigers from Comerica Park. In the first game of yesterday’s doubleheader, 3B Nolan Arenado had two hits and scored a run during a 2-1 road victory against Detroit. 

Thirty-five year old righty Miles Mikolas (2-3 5.91 ERA) will take the mound for the Cardinals in this matchup. Last time out, Mikolas (5.2 IP) allowed two runs and struck out five batters during a 4-2 road victory against New York.

The Detroit Tigers are two games below .500 at home and are three games off the pace in the AL Central Division race. In the second game of Tuesday’s doubleheader, OF Wenceel Perez homered twice and scored three runs to power Detroit to an 11-6 home victory versus St. Louis. OF Riley Greene also homered and part of a three-hit night for the Tigers, who improved to 17-13 overall.

Detroit manager A.J. Hinch will counter with thirty-six year old righty Kenta Maeda (0-1 5.96 ERA) on Wednesday. In his last start, Maeda fired five shutout frames and fanned five batters during a 4-2 road victory against Tampa Bay.
