Mariners vs Reds Picks and Prediction – 4/15/2025

Hard-throwing righty Luis Castillo (1-1 2.12 ERA) has gotten off to a great start for the Mariners. Last time out, Castillo fired five shutout frames and fanned six batters during a 2-1 home loss versus Houston in extra innings. 

The Cincinnati Reds are fresh off a weekend sweep in which they allowed just five runs total and are tied with Milwaukee for second place in the NL Central Division. On Sunday, SP Hunter Greene (2-1) struck out eight batters in seven innings to lead Cincinnati to a 4-0 home victory versus Pittsburgh. 2B Santiago Espinal went 2-for-4 and drove in a pair of runs to provide the offense for the Reds (8-8).

The Reds will counter with twenty-seven year old southpaw Nick Lodolo (2-1 0.96 ERA) in the series opener. In his last start, Lodolo tossed six scoreless innings and allowed just three hits during a 1-0 road victory against San Francisco. 

Tampa Bay OF Josh Lowe is currently on the 10-day injured list with an oblique injury and is eligible to return on May 1st. Through 16 games, Seattle ranks 25th in OPS and 18th in runs scored.
