San Francisco Giants at Colorado Rockies 8/20/22 - MLB Picks & Predictions

The San Fransisco Giants will continue a series on the road at Coors Field when they take on the Colorado Rockies. The Rockies have lost their last five games, and have continued to struggle on the road but will be back on their home field for this game. The Giants lost the back end of a series against the Diamondbacks, falling to 59-59 which leaves them on the outside looking in of the NL Wild Card race with a couple of weeks left and you can find out who else has playoff potential with our free MLB previews.

San Fransisco is a top-10 offense, although they haven’t shown it as of late averaging just 1.33 runs per game across their last three games. Left fielder Joc Pederson will miss this game with an injury, but he hasn’t been able to provide this team with much over the second half of the season, although he leads the team with 17 home runs.

The right-handed Alex Cobb will get the start for the Giants, he’s 4-6 with a 3.99 ERA and 1.29 WHIP on the year. Cobb is coming off a solid start in his last outing where he allowed a run on five hits in six innings, he also managed to strike out five in a 6-1 win over the Diamondbacks. It is up there with one of the better seasons of Cobb’s career.

The Rockies' offense in Colorado has been incredible all season long, leading the league scoring 5.67 runs per game when at home. First baseman CJ Cron has continued to emerge as one of the most underrated players in the league, leading the team with 23 home runs and 80 RBIs on the year.

The right-handed Ryan Feltner will get the ball for the Rockies and hope to turn around his rough start to the season. He’s 2-4 with a 6.39 ERA and 1.48 WHIP, a rough start to his career from the 25-year-old. Feltner allowed six runs on seven hits, striking out three in a 7-4 loss to the Diamondbacks. The rookie has got off to a rough start, and he’ll have his hands full against the Giants offense.

The Giants should be able to get the win in this game against a rookie pitcher who has yet to find his stuff at the big league level. The Rockies have lost their last five games, and lost 13-0 in the series finale against St. Louis, and aren’t able to bounce back with a struggling pitcher. The Giants offense gives Alex Cobb plenty of runs to work with, and he takes advantage with a strong start that ends with a Giants win. Final score prediction, Giants win 5-4.
