San Diego Padres at Colorado Rockies 9/25/22 - MLB Picks & Predictions

The Padres are 83-68 overall and 43-36 on the road. Against the run line, San Diego is 66-85 overall and 42-37 on the road. The Rockies are 65-86 overall and 41-38 at home. Against the rune line, they are 82-69 overall and 44-35 at home.

Mike Clevinger is scheduled to start for San Diego. The Padres right-hander is 6-7 with a 4.23 ERA over 104 1/3 innings. Clevinger has allowed 91 hits and 18 HR, walked 34 and struck out 86. 

Kyle Freeland is set to start for Colorado. The lefty is 9.10 with a 4.38 ERA over 166 1/3 innings. Freeland has given up 177 hits and 18 HR, walked 50 and struck out 121.

Manny Machado leads San Diego with a .296 AVG, 30 HR and 95 RBI. He has 11 hits, including six doubles, in 36 against Freeland. As a team, the Padres have 56 hits in 200 at bats against Freeland.

C.J. Crone leads Colorado with a .267 AVG, 29 HR and 101 RBI. Charlie Blackmon is the Rockies hitter with the most success against Clevinger going 3-for-10 including a HR and 4 RBI.

San Diego has fallen to the final wild card playoff spot, a half-game behind Philadelphia and just two games ahead of Milwaukee. The Padres will have a tough time winning this one in hopes of improving their position. Freeland has been the much better pitcher of late, with a 1.48 ERA over his last four starts. Clevinger has struggled in September to a 7.11 ERA in his last four appearances.  We like Colorado to take this one. Final Score Prediction: Colorado Rockies win 6-4.
