The Yankees will counter with twenty-nine year old righty Clarke Schmidt (4-3 2.84 ERA) on Saturday. Last time out, Schmidt fired seven shutout frames and fanned five batters during a 9-0 home victory versus Baltimore. 

New York SP Marcus Stroman (knee) made his second rehab start on Wednesday and could rejoin the rotation next week. Through 84 games, the Athletics rank 10th in OPS and 17th in runs scored.
