Detroit manager A.J. Hinch will give the nod to former number one overall draft pick Casey Mize (6-2 2.95 ERA) on Tuesday. In four home starts this season, Mize is 3-0 with a 1.54 ERA and has struck out 20 batters. 

Detroit OF Matt Vierling (shoulder) has been on a rehab assignment with Triple-A Toledo and could be activated for this game. Through 73 games, Pittsburgh ranks 29th in OPS and 30th in runs scored.
