Yankees vs Guardians Picks and Prediction – 4/23/2025

The Yankees (14-10) have split their first 12 road games and are clinging to a one-game lead over Boston for the top spot in the AL East Division. Last night, All-Star OF Aaron Judge went 4-for-4 with a run scored during a 3-2 road loss against Cleveland. 

For the Yankees to be serious postseason contenders, southpaw Carlos Rodon (2-3 4.34 ERA) will have to be a major factor. In his last start, Rodon fired six shutout frames and fanned nine batters during a 1-0 road victory against Tampa Bay. 

The Cleveland Guardians are riding a five-game winning streak and have moved into a first place tie with Detroit in the AL Central Division. On Tuesday, SP Tanner Bibee (2-2) allowed two runs and fanned five batters across six frames to earn the win. OF Steven Kwan went 2-for-4 and scored a run for the Guardians (14-9), who improved to 7-1 at home. 

The Guardians will give the nod to twenty-six year old righty Luis Ortiz (2-2 5.48 ERA) in the series finale. Cleveland has won Ortiz’s previous two starts and he has struck out 18 batters across his last ten plus frames. 

New York SP Marcus Stroman (knee) has resumed playing catch and hopes to return to the rotation early next month. Through 24 games, New York ranks 1st in OPS and 2nd in runs scored.
