The Mets (70-80) have won consecutive games and are on the verge of being eliminated from postseason contention. Last night, Jeff McNeil broke a ninth inning tie with a solo shot to lift New York to a 2-1 road victory against Miami.

Thirty year old left-hander Joey Lucchesi (3-0 2.83 ERA) will make his eighth start of the season for the Mets. Last time out, Lucchesi allowed just one unearned run across seven frames during a 7-1 home victory versus Arizona.

The Miami Marlins are ten games above .500 at home and are a half-game back in the race for the final NL Wild Card spot. During Monday’s home loss, Miami was limited to five hits and struck out nine times. SP Edward Cabrera allowed one run in five plus innings and did not factor in the decision for the Marlins, who fell to 78-73 on the year.

The Marlins will counter with twenty-six year old southpaw Braxton Garrett (9-6 3.67 ERA) on Monday. In his last start, Garrett fanned seven batters across six shutout frames during a 2-0 road victory against Milwaukee.
