Brewers vs Mets Picks and Prediction – 3/28/2024

The Thursday MLB schedule will get underway with a matchup between the Milwaukee Brewers and the New York Mets from Citi Field. Be ready for the baseball season with all of our MLB predictions. The Brewers figure to be hard pressed to match their 92 wins from a season ago and lost ace SP Corbin Burnes in an offseason trade to Baltimore. Milwaukee promoted bench coach Pat Murphy to replace departed manager Craig Counsell. Murphy will rely on OF Christian Yelich and newly signed 1B Rhys Hoskins to provide pop in the middle of the lineup. 

Twenty-seven year old righty Freddy Peralta (12-10 3.86 ERA) will take the mound for the Brewers in this contest. Peralta made 30 starts for Milwaukee last season and stuck out an impressive 210 batters in 165 plus innings. 

The New York Mets entered the 2023 campaign with the highest payroll in major league history and failed to qualify for the postseason. New manager Carlos Mendoza has plenty of optimism that newly signed DH J.D. Martinez can provide some much needed lineup protection to 1B Pete Alonso. OF Brandon Nimmo and SS Francisco Lindor will set the table and C Francisco Alvarez could become an All-Star.

Thirty-five year old southpaw Jose Quintana (3-6 3.57 ERA) will draw his first Opening Day assignment for the Mets. Quintana made 13 starts in 2023 and allowed just five home runs and posted a respectable 1.31 WHIP across 75 plus frames.
