Brewers vs Guardians Picks and Prediction – 5/12/2025

The Monday MLB schedule will get started with an interleague matchup between the Milwaukee Brewers and the Cleveland Guardians from Progressive Field. Twenty-eight year old righty Freddy Peralta (4-2 2.18 ERA) will make his ninth start of the year for the Brewers. Peralta, who has been bothered by a mild groin injury, owns a sparkling 1.04 WHIP through 45 plus innings. 

The Cleveland Guardians have won 12 of their first 19 home games and trail AL Central leading Detroit by 2.5 games. Last night, Cleveland batters managed just three hits and struck out 11 times during a 3-0 home loss versus Philadelphia. SP Luis Ortiz (2-4) fanned nine batters in six innings and was the hard luck loser for the Guardians (23-17). 

The Guardians will counter with thirty-three year old righty Ben Lively (2-2 3.46 ERA) in the series opener. Cleveland has won Lively’s last four starts and he has allowed five runs over his last 21 plus innings. 

Cleveland OF Lane Thomas (wrist) will begin a rehab assignment this week and hopes to return to the lineup later this month. Through 41 games, Milwaukee ranks 25th in OPS and 13th in runs scored.
