Marlins vs Pirates Picks and Prediction – 6/9/2025

Twenty-two year old righty Eury Perez will be activated off the injured list to make his season debut for the Marlins. Perez, who has been recovering from Tommy John surgery, has fanned 108 batters across 91 plus major league frames. 

The Pittsburgh Pirates are fresh off a three-game sweep of Philadelphia and are trying to climb out of the NL Central Division basement. On Sunday, veteran DH Andrew McCutchen delivered a game-winning single in the eighth inning to lift Pittsburgh to a 2-1 home victory. NL Rookie of the Year Paul Skenes fanned seven batters across seven plus frames and did not factor in the decision for the Pirates (26-40), who improved to 17-18 at home. 

Rookie right-hander Mike Burrows (1-1 5.27 ERA) will make his fourth career major league start for the Pirates. Through 13 plus innings, Burrows has struck out 11 batters and owns a respectable 1.32 WHIP. 

Pittsburgh C Joey Bart is currently in the league’s concussion protocol and his status to return is uncertain. Through 63 games, Miami ranks 18th in OPS and 23rd in runs scored.
