Marlins vs Phillies Picks and Prediction – 4/19/2025

The Saturday MLB schedule will get started with a battle between the Miami Marlins and the Philadelphia Phillies from Citizens Bank Park. Last night, Miami SP Sandy Alcantara (2-1) was shelled for six runs and recorded just six outs during a 7-2 road loss against Philadelphia. 

Thirty year old right-hander Cal Quantrill (1-1 5.79 ERA) will make his fourth start of the season for the Marlins. Last time out, Quantrill (5 IP) walked five batters and gave up three runs during an 11-4 home victory versus Washington. 

The Philadelphia Phillies have won seven of their first ten home games and trail New York by one game for first place in the NL East Division. On Friday, Philadelphia jumped out to a first inning lead on a two-run blast by Bryce Harper. SP Zack Wheeler (2-1) retired 13 batters by strikes and lasted seven innings to earn the win for the Phillies, who improved to 12-8 overall. 

Thirty-two year old righty Taijuan Walker (1-1 2.30 ERA) has quietly gotten off to a nice start for the Phillies. Through 15 plus innings, Walker has struck out 14 batters and owns a respectable 1.21 WHIP.

Philadelphia SP Ranger Suarez (back) will make his next rehab start on Tuesday and could rejoin the rotation next weekend. Through 19 games, Miami ranks 17th in OPS and 21st in runs scored. For the regular season, Philadelphia ranks 12th in OPS and 15th in runs scored. Take the over. Philadelphia Phillies win 8-4.
