During Monday’s home victory, OF Bryan Reynolds capped Pittsburgh’s three-run second inning with a two-run single. SP Paul Skenes (5-8) fanned six batters across six shutout frames to earn the win for the Pirates, who improved to 40-61 overall. 

Twenty-nine year old righty Mitch Keller (3-10 3.48 ERA) is one of the most rumored trade pieces for the Pirates ahead of the MLB trade deadline. In his last start, Keller (6 IP) allowed four hits and one run during a 2-1 road victory against Minnesota. 

Detroit OF Kerry Carpenter (hamstring) has resumed hitting drills and is expected to begin a rehab assignment this week. Through 101 games, Detroit ranks 7th in OPS and 6th in runs scored.
