AL Central Division rivals will clash on Monday night, when the Detroit Tigers travel to Progressive Field to face the Cleveland Guardians. On Sunday, Detroit SP Tarik Skubal struck out 12 batters in six innings and did not factor in the decision during a 5-2 road loss against New York. 

Twenty-eight year old right Jack Flaherty (0-1 4.00 ERA) will take the mound for the Tigers in this matchup. Last time out, Flaherty (6.2 IP) mowed down 14 batters by strikes and did not allow a run during a 2-1 home loss versus St. Louis. 

The Cleveland Guardians have won ten of their first 15 home games and hold a two-game lead for the top spot in the AL Central Division. On Sunday, veteran SP Carlos Carrasco (2-2) allowed one run in six innings to lead Cleveland to a 4-1 home victory versus Los Angeles. Jose Ramirez and Josh Naylor hit two-run blasts to provide the offense for the Guardians, who improved to 22-12 on the year. 

Cleveland rookie manager Stephen Vogt will turn to twenty-six year old righty Triston McKenzie (2-2 4.34 ERA) on Monday. The Guardians have won McKenzie’s last three starts and he has allowed five runs over his last 16 innings.
