Tigers vs White Sox Picks and Prediction – 3/28/2024

The Detroit Tigers kick off the 2024 season on the road Thursday in Chicago against the Chicago White Sox. Detroit will look to improve on a 78 win season from a year ago that saw them win six of the last seven but still missed the playoffs. Detroit comes into the regular season having had a great spring training winners of four of the last five including a tie against Tampa Bay in the final game of the spring. Tarik Skubal will take the bump Thursday for Detroit to start the new year. Skubal had a solid season in 2023 with seven wins and three losses and a 2.80 ERA. Skubal also ran off five straight victories across his last five outings last year giving up just three runs on 14 hits across 30 total innings.

The Chicago White Sox open the 2024 season Thursday night looking to turn their fortunes over the last few years. Chicago hasn't finished above .500 since the 2021 year following a terrible 61 win season a year ago. Luis Robert Jr. will be back in the middle of the Chicago lineup this season as the most important hitter returning from a year ago. Robert Jr. led Chicago last season with a .264 batting average, 38 home runs, and 80 RBIs in 145 games played.

Chicago will depend on an abundance of players that showed a ton of success this spring. Eloy Jimenez came up big all spring for Chicago with a .333 batting average and led the team with 17 hits in 18 games. Paul DeJong also supplied a ton of power leading the team with three home runs and 16 RBIs.
