The Colorado Rockies open the 2024 regular season Thursday night with a game in Arizona against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Colorado had a mediocre spring having won three of the last five games following a 5 run victory over Milwaukee heading into game one of the 2024 season. Colorado comes into 2024 looking to improve on an abysmal 59 win season from a year ago. Colorado was busy this offseason revamping their roster to produce at a higher rate this season. Kyle Freeland will get the ball for Colorado in game one of the year Thursday night. The 30 year old finished last season 6-14 overall with the 5.03 ERA. Freeland was fantastic in his last outing last season throwing 3 innings against the San Francisco Giants giving up four hits and one run leading to a three run victory for Colorado.

The Arizona Diamondbacks come in 2024 looking to improve on last year that saw them barely slip into the playoffs with 84 wins overall. Despite a mediocre season Arizona rolled to the World Series after winning their first five games across the first two rounds of the playoffs. Arizona's luck ran out after falling to the Texas Rangers in the World Series in Game 5 by a score of 5-0.

Arizona will turn to Zac Gallen Thursday night to start the new season looking to pick up where he left off last year. Gallen finished last season with seventeen wins and nine losses and a 3.47 ERA. Gallen throws well for the Diamondbacks having finished the 2023 season with 220 total strike outs.
