Guardians vs Tigers Picks and Prediction – 7/11/2024

The Thursday MLB schedule will get underway with a matinee between the Cleveland Guardians and the Detroit Tigers from Comerica Park. Be ready for the baseball season with all of our MLB predictions. The Guardians (57-34) are four games above .500 at home and hold a five-game lead over Minnesota for first place in the AL Central Division. Last night, Cleveland SP Tanner Bibee (7-4) gave up four runs in seven innings during a 5-4 road loss against Detroit. 

Twenty-seven year old righty Spencer Howard (5.63 ERA) will make his third start of the season for the Guardians. Howard, who has worked primarily in relief, owns an alarming 1.83 WHIP through 24 innings. 

The Detroit Tigers have won seven of their last ten games and are 7.5 games back in the race for the final AL Wild Card spot. During Wednesday’s home victory, Matt Vierling’s two-run blast in the third inning gave Detroit a 4-2 lead. SP Reese Olson (4-8) allowed three runs across six solid frames to earn the win for the Tigers (44-49), who improved to 21-23 at home. 

Detroit manager A.J. Hinch will give the nod to talented right-hander Jack Flaherty (5-5 3.24 ERA) on Thursday. Through 89 innings of work, Flaherty has struck out 115 batters and owns a sparkling 1.00 WHIP.
