Guardians vs Tigers Picks and Prediction – 7/9/2024

In Tuesday night MLB action, the Cleveland Guardians will square off against the Detroit Tigers from Comerica Park. Be ready for the baseball season with all of our MLB predictions. The Guardians (56-33) have split their previous ten games and hold a 5.5 game lead over Minnesota for first place in the AL Central Division. Last night, Cleveland was limited to three hits during a 1-0 road loss against Detroit.

Thirty-two year old righty Ben Lively (8-4 3.14 ERA) will head to the hill for the Guardians in this contest. In his last start, Lively (6 IP) gave up three runs and struck out six batters during an 8-4 home victory versus Chicago. 

The Detroit Tigers are riding a four-game winning streak and are seven games back in the race for the final AL Wild Card spot. In the series opener, Detroit scratched a run on an error in the eighth inning and went 1-for-8 with runners in scoring position. SP Keider Montero fanned four batters across six plus innings and did not factor in the decision for the Tigers (43-48), who improved to 20-22 at home. 

The Tigers will counter with thirty-six year old righty Kenta Maeda (2-5 6.71 ERA) on Tuesday. Detroit has lost Maeda’s previous five starts and he has surrendered 19 runs over his last 22 plus innings.
