Reds vs Pirates Picks and Prediction – 5/21/2025

The Pittsburgh Pirates are the lowest scoring team in the majors and are trapped in the NL Central Division basement. During Tuesday’s home victory, Pittsburgh scratched their only run across in the sixth inning on a Bryan Reynolds single that scored Oneil Cruz. SP Bailey Falter (3-3) fanned five batters across seven shutout frames to earn the win for the Pirates (16-33), who improved to 10-14 at home. 

The Pirates will counter with thirty-three year old southpaw Andrew Heaney (2-3 3.02 ERA) in the series finale. Through 50 plus innings, Heaney has limited the opposition to five long balls and owns a solid 1.14 WHIP.

Pittsburgh SP Jared Jones (elbow) is currently on the 60-day injured list and may have to undergo Tommy John surgery. Through 50 games, Cincinnati ranks 13th in OPS and 8th in runs scored.
