On Sunday, Ian Happ delivered a three-run double in the opening frame to lead Chicago to a 4-2 road victory against Cincinnati.  

Thirty-two year old righty Jameson Taillon (3-2 3.47 ERA) will head to the hill for the Cubs in this contest. In his last start, Taillon (5 IP) gave up ten hits and five runs during a 7-6 home victory versus the White Sox. 

The Tampa Bay Rays are five games below .500 at home and trying to climb out of the AL East Division basement. Last night, Tampa Bay batters were limited to five hits and were retired by strikes ten times during a 5-2 home loss versus Baltimore. SP Ryan Pepiot (4-3) gave up four runs in six innings and took the loss for the Rays (31-35), who were swept in the four-game series. 

The Rays will counter with thirty year old right-hander Zach Eflin (3-4 4.14 ERA) in the series opener. Tampa Bay has won Eflin’s previous four starts and he has allowed ten runs over his last 22 innings of work.
