The Boston Red Sox play the second game of a four-game series on the road Friday versus the Texas Rangers. Last season, Boston was 81-81 and finished third in the American League East. Boston’s biggest acquisition was Garrett Crochet, who is the new ace after being acquired from the White Sox and was the opening day pitcher on Thursday. Boston's bullpen is a key as the Red Sox struggled there last season and Chapman will be the closer. Boston is expected to have Jarren Duran, Rafael Devers, Alex Bregman, Triston Casas, Wilyer Abreu, Connor Wong, Kristian Campbell, and Ceddance Rafaela as its starting lineup to begin the season. Injuries caused problems for Texas last season, but the Rangers shouldn't be amongst the leaders in the AL West once September rolls around. 

The starting rotation for the Texas Rangers this season will be ace Jacob deGrom, Nathan Eovaldi, Tyler Mahle, Jack Leiter, and Kumar Rocker. Two other starters will begin the season on the injured list. The bullpen will consist of Jacob Webb, Chris Martin, Luke Jackson, Shawn Armstrong, Hoby Milner, Robert Garcia, and Gerson Garabito. The closer has yet to be chosen for the bullpen. Texas will send Jack Leiter to the mound on Friday. Last season, the right-hander was 0-3 with an 8.83 ERA, 31 Ks, and 17 BBs.

The Texas Rangers enter the first series of the regular season healthy. Last season, injuries were a big reason the Rangers struggled in the second half of the season. Texas has plenty of power at the plate with Corey Seager, Marcus Semien, Adolis Garcia, and Josh Jung.
