Orioles vs Nationals Picks and Prediction – 4/22/2025

The Battle of the Beltways will get started on Tuesday night, when the Baltimore Orioles invade the nation’s capital to face the Washington Nationals. On Sunday, Baltimore SP Charlie Morton (0-5) was shelled for seven runs and recorded just seven outs during an ugly 24-2 home loss versus Cincinnati.  

Twenty-nine year old righty Dean Kremer (2-2 6.41 ERA) will take the mound for the Orioles in this matchup. Last time out, Kremer (5.1 IP) allowed four hits and one run during a 9-1 home victory versus Cleveland.

The Washington Nationals rank second worst in the majors with a 5.12 ERA and are six games off the pace in the NL East Division race. In the first game of Sunday’s doubleheader, SP Jake Irvin (2-0) fanned nine batters across six plus frames to lead Washington to a 3-2 road victory against Colorado. In the nightcap, Washington batters went 1-for-7 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base during a 3-1 loss. 

Washington manager Dave Martinez will turn to twenty-five year old lefty Mitchell Parker (2-1 1.85 ERA) on Tuesday. Through 24 plus innings, Parker has limited the opposition to one long ball and owns a solid 1.11 WHIP.

Baltimore OF Heston Kjerstad (elbow) was absent from Sunday’s lineup and is listed as day-to-day. Through 21 games, Baltimore ranks 11th in OPS and 12th in runs scored.
