Braves vs Nationals Picks and Prediction – 5/20/2025

NL East Division foes will square off on Tuesday night, when the Atlanta Braves invade the nation’s capital to face the Washington Nationals. On Sunday, 3B Austin Riley went 3-for-6 with three runs scored to spark Atlanta to a 10-4 road triumph against Boston. 

Twenty-six year old righty Spencer Strider (0-1 3.60 ERA) will come off the injured list to take the mound for the Braves. Strider, who has been sidelined by a hamstring injury, has struck out an impressive 500 batters through 334 plus major league innings. 

The Washington Nationals are fresh off a three-game sweep of Baltimore during the Beltway Series and erupted for 24 runs. On Sunday, leadoff hitter C.J. Abrams clubbed two of Washington’s five long balls and scored three times during a 10-4 road victory. OF Dylan Crews added a three-run blast for the Nationals (21-27), who improved to 11-15 on the road. 

Washington skipper Dave Martinez will give the nod to left-hander Mitchell Parker on Tuesday. Last time out, Parker (4.2 IP) gave up four runs and struck out six batters during a 5-4 road victory against Atlanta. 

Atlanta OF Ronald Acuna Jr. (knee) is on a rehab assignment with Triple-A Gwinnett and could make his season debut later this week. Through 47 games, Atlanta ranks 14th in OPS and 17th in runs scored. For the season, Washington ranks 16th in OPS and 13th in runs scored. Take the over.
