The American League visits Truist Park in Atlanta on Tuesday to play the National League in the 2025 MLB All-Star Game. The two managers from last season’s World Series, Aaron Boone from the Yankees and Dave Roberts from the Dodgers, will be the managers for the two teams. The batting orders for both teams have not yet been released, but with such talent at the plate, the order in which they bat may not be all that important, as opposing pitchers will be facing loads of power. The American League starters and possible batting order will be: Gleyber Torres at second, Aaron Judge in right, Vladimir Guerrero Jr at first, Cal Raleigh behind the plate, Jose Ramirez at third, Riley Green in left, Ryan O’Hearn as DH, Javier Baez in center, and Jacob Wilson at short. The lineup will have the top two home run hitters and RBI leaders in baseball, in Raleigh and Judge. Detroit’s Tarik Skubal starts on the mound for the AL. The left-hander is 10-3 with a 2.23 ERA, 153 Ks, and 16 BBs.

Putting together the NL lineup is even harder than the AL. The NL is loaded with power from top to bottom. All-Star lineups rarely have weak spots, but this year’s squad for the NL is even more talented than usual. It is stacked from 1 through 9 in the batting order. The top half of the batting order will likely be: Shohei Ohtani as DH leading off, Ronald Acuna in right, Freddie Freeman at first, and Will Smith behind the plate as the clean-up hitter. 

The bottom half of the NL batting order will consist of Kyle Tucker in left batting fifth, followed by Manny Machado at third, Pete Crow-Armstrong in center, Francisco Lindor at short, and Ketel Marte at second. Ohtani has had five straight 30-home run seasons, had a 50/50 season in 2024, and is at .988 in OPS this season. Pittsburgh’s Paul Skenes will start on the mound for the NL. The right-hander is 4-8 with a 2.01 ERA, 131 Ks, and 30 BBs. Skenes has been hurt this season with a lack of run support from his teammates. 

AL starter Skubal was hit hard last time out, but will be focused on Tuesday, looking to shut down the NL hitters. The lefty has a 2.23 ERA and 153 strikeouts in 121.0 innings pitched. NL starter Skenes has allowed just two runs on 15 hits across the last 15 innings, but the Pirates have lost 2-1 and 1-0 in two of the games and won 1-0 in another. With Skenes starting and the NL bullpen loaded with strikeout pitchers, this will be a low-scoring affair, with a key RBI late giving the win to the NL.
