Vegas Vipers at St. Louis Battlehawks 4/8/23 - XFL Picks & Predictions

The week eight XFL schedule will kickoff on Saturday afternoon, with a battle between the Vegas Vipers and the St. Louis BattleHawks. The Vipers (2-5) have led at halftime in five of their first seven games, but have been one of the biggest disappointments in the league for head coach Rod Woodson. On Saturday, Vegas built a seven-point halftime lead and held San Antonio scoreless during the second half to earn a 26-12 home victory.

Vegas unleashed new starting QB Jalan McClendon, who completed 21 of 31 passes for 264 yards and two touchdowns. RB Rod Smith contributed 75 yards from scrimmage and found the end zone on a 17-yard reception. The Vipers outgained the Brahmas 336-206 and forced three turnovers.

The St. Louis BattleHawks have won consecutive games and are tied with Seattle for second place in the XFL North Division. The BattleHawks (5-2) are led by QB A.J. McCarron, who is completing nearly 70 percent of his passes and has thrown for a league-high 17 touchdowns. On Sunday, St. Louis overcame two costly turnovers during a 24-15 road victory against Houston.

A.J. McCarron shredded the Houston secondary for 222 passing yards and three touchdowns. Darrius Shepherd hauled in seven receptions for 70 yards and a score. Hakeem Butler and Gary Jennings also found the end zone for the BattleHawks.

St. Louis dominated Vegas two weeks ago by a 29-6 final score in a game that saw A.J. McCarron passed for 236 yards and three touchdowns. Since then, the Vipers have found their quarterback and as a result we could see a shootout. Look for Vegas to cover on the road in a high-scoring affair. Final Score Prediction, St. Louis BattleHawks win 26-23.
