Houston Roughnecks at San Antonio Brahmas 4/9/23 - XFL Picks & Predictions

The Houston Roughnecks will be on the road this week for a game in San Antonio against the San Antonio Brahmas.  Houston comes into this week 4-3 overall following a nine point loss to Saint Louis a week ago. Defensively Houston was outmatched giving up 281 total yards of offense and 24 points in the game following a 17 point first half for Saint Louis. Offensively Houston struggled with only 228 total yards and scored 15 total points after nothing in the first and third quarters of the game.

Cole McDonald led the way for the Houston offense completing 15 of 32 passes for 106 yards and one score and ran the ball eight times for 40 yards as well. Max Borghi was the top ball carrier in the game for Houston with 46 yards on 9 carries, while Cedric Byrd chipped in a team high 50 yards on 7 receptions. Deontay Burnett added three receptions for 21 yards and one touchdown as well.

San Antonio returns home this week 2-5 on the year following a six point victory against Arlington a week ago. The San Antonio offense did just enough compiling 162 total yards and scored fifteen points including six in the fourth quarter to get the victory. Defensively San Antonio was tremendous allowing only nine points on 249 yards and forced two turnovers in the game to seal their second win of the season.

Jawon Pass led the way for the San Antonio offense completing 8 passes for 57 yards, while Kurt Benkert completed one pass for two yards as well. Jacques Patrick led all ball carriers in the game with 82 yards on 15 carries to go along with 18 yards on three receptions as well. Landen Akers proved to be the primary target in the San Antonio passing attack with 24 yards on two catches to lead the team.

Houston is the better team in this game as San Antonio has been a bottom feeder in the league this season. Look for  Houston to continue to play well as they overwhelm a bad team leading to the win. Take the Roughnecks this week to do enough to get the win and cover on the road. Final Score Prediction, Houston Roughnecks win and cover 27-13.
