USA vs WNBA Picks and Predictions - 7/20/24

The WNBA brings a special edition showcase Saturday night with the game in Phoenix, AZ between Team USA, and team WNBA. This will be the 2nd matchup between two such teams and the first since 2021 when Team USA struggled as they lost their only game of the 2021 summer against team WNBA. USA shot the ball extremely well making 47.3% of their shots but made just 7 of 20 triples and turn the ball over 15 times in the loss period Team USA was also out rebounded and allowed more paint points back in 2021. Cheryl Reeve is again at the helm for Team USA having been the head coach of the national team since 2021. Team USA is flanked by a star-studded roster including four players from the reigning two time defending WNBA champion Las Vegas Aces. A’ja Wilson will be one of the leaders for Team USA this summer as she currently leads the league averaging 27.2 points per game and is second overall averaging 11.9 rebounds. Diana Taurasi will also be leaned on in a huge way for Team USA this summer as she makes her 6th Olympic appearance chasing her 6th gold medal.

Team WNBA will come into Saturday again with a chip on their shoulder as they look to repeat their success from 2021. The last time these two played  Team WNBA did the work pouring in 93 points on 46. 4% shooting and knocked down 11 triples in the game. Team WNBA had an especially successful second half pouring in 49 total points including 27 in the fourth quarter to break a tie game resulting in the win.

Arike Ogunbowale will again lead team WNBA Saturday night as she is one of the biggest snubs after not making the Team USA roster. Ogunbowale led team WNBA back in 2021 pouring in a game high 26 points on 18 shots. Napheesa Collier will join Ogunbowale as an offensive leader for team WNBA as she currently sits 4th in the league averaging 20 points per game and 3rd in the league averaging 10.2 points per game. Both star rookies Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese we'll also suit up for team WNBA as they await their shot at the national team roster.

This will be one of the most competitive women's basketball games the world has seen in the last few years. The WNBA All Stars will fare well against Team USA. Despite the league sending out their All Stars on Saturday the best players in the league will be wearing red, white, and blue.
