On Sunday, the 2022 WNBA All-Star game will be played at Wintrust Arena in Chicago, Illinois between Team Wilson and Team Stewart. The All-Star teams were selected through voting by players, fans and media. The two captains A’ja Wilson and Breanna Stewart drafted their respective teams from a pool of starters and reserves. 

The All-Star Game will have three specific rules. Four circles have been added to the court behind the three-point line in each of the four will be four-point shooting areas. A 20-second shot clock has been added instead of the normal 24 seconds and no free throws will be taken. The player fouled will be credited with the highest available points based on each situation. However during the final two minutes of the last quarter and any overtime, free throws must be taken. 

Team Wilson will consist of starters A’ja Wilson, Sylvia Fowles, Candace Parker, Kelsey Plum and Sabrina Ionescu. The reserves are rookie Rhyne Howard, Dearica Hambry, Courtney Vandersloot, Ariel Atkins, Brionna Jones and Natasha Howard. Plum is second in the WNBA in scoring with an average of 19.9 points per game and Wilson is sixth with an average of 18.5 points per game. Vandersloot is second in the league in assists with an average of  6.4 per game, while Wilson is leading the WNBA in rebounds, with an average of 10.1 per game

Team Stewart will consist of starters Breanna Stewart, Sue Bird, Jackie Young, Jonquel Jones and Nneka Ogwumike. The reserves will be Jewel Loyd, Kahleah Copper, Skylar Diggins-Smith, Alyssa Thomas, Arike Ogunbowale and Emma Meesseman. Stewart is first in the WNBA in scoring with an average of 21.0 points per game and Ogunbowale is third with an average of 19.5 points per game. Jones is third in the WNBA in rebounding with an average of 8.9 rebounds per game, while Sue Bird is fifth in assists with an average of 5.9 assists per game.

Team Wilson has the advantage in this matchup, with a proven scorer in A’ja Wilson, one of the best rebounders the WNBA has ever seen in Sylvia Fowles and a rising start in the backcourt in Sabrina Ionescu, who is averaging 17.4 points, 7.6 rebounds and 6.3 assists per game.
