The Las Vegas Aces meet up with the Seattle Storm in a game rescheduled from August 27th and what will be the final game of the regular season. This matchup is a huge one as the number one seed of the WNBA playoffs hangs in the balance. The Storm come in having won 6 straight games, the most recent a 83-60 win over the Phoenix Mercury improving to 18-3 on the season. The Aces have won four straight games and are coming off a 104-89 win to improve their record on the season to 17-4 on the season and more importantly kept themselves in striking distance of the first seed.

Las Vegas and Seattle both come in with efficient offenses with the Aces boasting a league-best 88.9 points per game while shooting 47.8% from the field, which ranks 3rd in the league. Las Vegas is led by center A’Ja Wilson who is averaging 20.4 points per game and 8.7 rebounds per game, both leading the team and ranking in the top 10 of all the WNBA.

Seattle ranks second in scoring offense averaging 87.7 points per game while shooting an impressive 39.2% from beyond the arc. Breanna Stewart has been huge for the Storm this season averaging 19.7 points and 8.3 rebounds per game in another excellent year in what is turning out to be an excellent career. Arguably one of the most accomplished women’s’ basketball players of all time, Stewart led the Storm to a WNBA championship in 2018 and will be looking to do the same this season.

Seattle leads the WNBA in scoring defense allowing just 75.5 points per game and are holding opposing teams to just 39.9% from the field. The Aces are solid on defense as well allowing 80 points per game and opposing teams are shooting just 43.2% from the field, the third-best defensive clip in the WNBA this season.

Seattle is the hottest team in the WNBA this year coming in having won seven straight games and are looking to secure the one-seed for the WNBA playoffs. With the Aces standing in there way, it will be a matchup that could preview the WNBA finals this season with the new playoff format that favors teams record over what conference there in. The Storm take care of business to secure the one seed and build some momentum heading into the playoffs. Behind Breanna Stewart and a team that has won a championship before, they’re not new to the idea of big games. Final score prediction, Storm win and cover ATS 87-76.
