Seattle Storm vs Dallas Wings 9/9/20 - WNBA Picks & Predictions

The Dallas Wings and Seattle Storm meet up as the WNBA bubble comes to an close with both teams having 3 games left, the Storm are a team that have had a ton of success in the bubble this season and have won five straight games. With a decisive 103-88 win over the Minnesota Lynx, Seattle improved to 16-3 on the year. The Wings snuck away with a 101-94 overtime win over the Washington Mystics, snapping a two-game losing streak and improving to 7-12 on the season.

Wings’ guard Arike Ogunbowale leads all the WNBA in scoring averaging 22.2 points per game despite shooting just 41.2% from the field, Ogunbowale also leads the team in assists with 3.5 per game. The Wings offense runs almost exclusively through Ogunbowale as the Wings have just two players besides Ogunbowale averaging double-figures; one of those is leading rebounder Satou Sabally who is averaging 7.8 rebounds per game while adding 13.1 points per game. As a team, the Wings are averaging 82.6 points per game to rank 7th in scoring offense.

The Storm are one of the best offenses in the WNBA this season averaging 87 points per game and are shooting 38.8% from beyond the arc, both ranking second in the WNBA. The Storm are led by transcendent women’s basketball player Breanna Stewart. Recognized as one of the best college basketball players, male or female, Stewart leads Seattle in scoring and rebounding with 19.5 points per game and 8.1 rebounds per game.

Seattle is the number one scoring defense in the WNBA allowing just 75.3 points per game and holding opponents to 40.2% from the field, the best clip in the WNBA this season. Dallas is allowing 85.9 points per game to rank 8th in scoring defense while opposing teams are shooting 37.3% from the field, the worst three-point defense in the WNBA this season.

With Seattle ranking second in scoring offense and first in scoring defense this season, it is no surprise they boast the best record in the WNBA this season. The Wings, however, are playing for their lives holding onto the last playoff spot by just 1.5 games over the Mystics. With the Storm playing for the one seed and the Wings playing for the final spot in the playoffs, we should see a good matchup here. Unfortunately for the Wings, the Storm are just too balanced and talented of a team. With Breanna Stewart leading the way and coming in on a five-game win streak, Seattle takes care of business and clinches the one-seed with a win over the Wings. Final score prediction, Storm win and cover ATS 87-73.
