Phoenix Mercury vs Seattle Storm 8/8/20 - WNBA Picks & Predictions

On Saturday, the Phoenix Mercury plays the Seattle Storm in a game between two of the top three teams in the Western Conference standings. Third place Phoenix won its fourth straight with a 96-86 victory over the Chicago Sky on Thursday. Brittney Griner and Diana Tuarasi scored 22 points each to lead the Mercury. Phoenix trails Seattle by one game standings.

Bria Hartley is leading Phoenix in scoring with an average of 18.2 points per game, while Brittney Griner is the second leading scorer and leading rebounder with averages of 17.5 points and 7.0 rebounds per game. Diana Taurasi is the third leading scorer and leader in assists with averages of 17.3 points and 6.0 assists per game. 

Seattle looks for its fourth consecutive victory when meeting Phoenix on Saturday. The Storm are in first place in the Western Conference standings  at 5-1 following a 93-92 victory over the Atlanta Dream on Thursday. Breanna Stewart led Seattle in the victory with 27 points making each of her 10 free throws to help fight off the Dream down the stretch.

Breanna Stewart is leading Seattle in scoring and rebounding with averages of 20.2 points and 8.3 rebounds per game. Jordin Canada is the leader in assists with an average of 4.2 per game. Jewell Loyd with an average of 12.8 points per game is one of four players for Seattle averaging double-figures in scoring.

Both Phoenix and Seattle are playing as good or better than any other team in the WNBA. Seattle is coming off a scare after barely holding off the Atlanta Dream by one point. Phoenix took care of the Chicago Sky in an easier fashion winning by 10 points. Phoenix  will join Seattle at the top of the Western Conference with a victory on Saturday.
