LA Sparks vs Washington Mystics 8/13/20 - WNBA Picks & Predictions

The Los Angeles Sparks and Washington Mystics meet up in the 9th game of the WNBA bubble, the Mystics have started off the season 3-0 but have their last 5 games. The Mystics mustered only 48 points their last time out, falling 68-48 to the Minnesota Lynx. The Sparks have won three of their last four, capped off with a 93-78 win over the New York Liberty.

The Sparks are averaging 86.4 points per game ranking 4th/12 in the WNBA in scoring offense this season while shooting 47.8% from the field, ranking 3rd in offensive shooting percentage. The Sparks are led by the resurgence of veteran Candance Parker who is averaging 14.4 points per game while shooting 48.5% from the field. Parker is also adding a team-high 9.8 rebounds per game and is second on the team in assists with 3.8 per game.

The Mystics are the 9th ranked scoring offense in the WNBA this season averaging 80.6 points per game while shooting 42.3% from the field also ranking 9th in offensive shooting percentage. Washington’s offense has specifically struggled as of late, scoring only 48 points their last time out. Leading the Mystics in scoring is Aerial Powers who is averaging 16.3 points per game, shooting 46.4% from the field. The Mystics depth can present problems with four players averaging over 13 points per game.

Both teams have been solid on the defensive end of the season with the Mystics allowing 80 points per game and holding opponents to 44% from the field, both ranking third in the WNBA. Los Angeles is allowing 81.1 points per game, the 5th best scoring defense while opposing teams are shooting 44.5% from the field.

The Mystics were the WNBA Champions last season and opened the season looking so with three straight wins but have since lost their last five games. The Mystics offense has simply lost its way, as we saw with the 48 point stinker their last time out. The Sparks have looked solid in their last four games, averaging 89.5 points per game in their last four. These two teams come in on different trajectories with the Sparks looking incredible in the last week while the Mystics haven’t won a game in just under two weeks. The Sparks continue to build on their offensive success of the last four games and pick up a win here. Final score prediction, LA Sparks win and cover ATS 87-73
