The Indiana Fever visit The Monhegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut on Tuesday to play the Connecticut Sun in the opening game of the 2024 WNBA season for both teams. Indiana finished the 2023 season 10th with a record of 13-27 and missed the playoffs. Indiana picked Caitlin Clark in the recent WNBA draft, adding to last year's No. 1 pick Aliyah Boston, and the No. 2 pick in 2022 NaLyssa Smith, giving the Fever a solid foundation for the future. Clark scored 21 points in her exhibition opener and appears to be gelling well with the two young, talented post players for the Fever - Boston and Smith. Kelsey Mitchell, who has played each of her seven WNBA seasons with Indiana, is back as is Eric Wheeler, who last season started all 40 games for the Fever. Katie Lou Samuelson, missed last season after having a baby, will be playing for her fifth WNBA team in five seasons.

The Connecticut Sun finished 27-13 last season and third overall in the WNBA. Connecticut lost to New York in the semifinals last year and is expected to be one of the top three teams again in 2024. DeWanna Bonner, who will be playing her 15th season in the WNBA, is back. Alyssa Thomas, who last season was one of the finalists for the WNBA MVP, also returns.

Brionna Jones, who was sidelined in June of last year with an injured Achilles, is also back for the Sun. DiJonai Carrington, who last season was the runner up for the Sixth Player of the Year, also returns for the Sun. Connecticut added Moriah Jefferson and Tiffany Mitchell as well as Rachel Banham. Olivia Nelson-Ododa, who plays center for the Sun, is expected to have an improved season over last year.

Fever vs Sun Pick Analysis

Our Free WNBA Pick for Connecticut Sun vs Indiana Fever

Indiana has a talented roster with No. 1 picks in the last two WNBA drafts and a second selection in the draft from 2022. However, it may take time for the three players to gel as a unit and with the other players on the roster, therefore Connecticut has the advantage in this opening game of the season. Connecticut returns its top players from a year ago and will be too much at home on opening night for Indiana to stop. Final Score Prediction, Connecticut Sun wins and covers ATS 83-72.
