In the second game of a Saturday night NBA on TNT Playoff doubleheader, the Denver Nuggets and the Los Angeles Clippers will square off from the Walt Disney Resort. The third-seeded Nuggets expended a lot of energy to dispose of Utah in seven games and were predictably flat during Thursday’s 120-97 series opening loss against Los Angeles. The Nuggets missed 27 of their 36 three-point attempts and shot just 42 percent overall.
All-Star C Nikola Jokic led Denver with 15 points on 6-for-14 from the field. Paul Millsap added 13 points and nine rebounds in a losing effort for the Nuggets.
The Los Angeles Clippers have never reached the Western Conference Finals and have all the pieces to win their first NBA Championship. In Game One, Los Angeles built an 18-point halftime lead by outsourcing Denver 38-20 in the second quarter. The Clippers assisted on 23 of their 48 made field goals and shot a sizzling 57 percent from the field.
Los Angeles F Kawhi Leonard tallied a game-high 29 points on an efficient 12-for-16 shooting performance. Paul George chipped in 19 points and seven rebounds for the Clippers.
